What a great way for us to kick off the New Year! A great friend, delicious sushi, tons of beautiful jewelry, an adorable kitty and a camera. Are you curious yet? We recently enjoyed an afternoon on an oh-so-fun photo shoot with the creator and owner of Olive Yew. Angela Parker-Kennedy has a vision of creating simple, elegant jewelry. Her relentless drive led to putting her corporate world on the shelf in order to pursue her more "art" filled business, creating jewelry. We can definitely see what all the fuss is about. Wow! Another month has blown by so quickly. I've noticed that my website, blog, face book, etc. are lacking bio information. I think my images probably describe me better than I will ever accomplish writing. So why stop?

I have a few activities that I really love to immerse myself with when not working. One of them.... gardening. This is the view often seen by my neighbors. I'm sure they enjoy the fruits of my efforts much more than the sights.

King of the Grill

The 4th of July is upon us and Irwin is gearing up for America's holiday. When I caught up with him last week, decorations were up, fireworks were purchased and there was a round of hotdogs and hamburgers already on the grill. This weekend's festivities are sure to be memorable, and we hope yours is too! So fire up the grill and eat to your heart's content, light your fireworks with care, and please protect yourself from too much sun. Make sure you don't burn those buns! GottaWannaNeedaGettaHava BOJANGLES!

I spent most of my week in Asheville, NC last week covering the 2009 Bojangles' Franchise Convention at the Grove Park Inn. I've shot in some pretty impressive places and the Grove Park is in the top five, simply gorgeous!

Part of my assignment was to set up a station where franchise owners and their family members could have their photos taken. Dripping in sweat, I was able to greet a very long line filled with folks who make up the Bojangles' family. This adorable couple walked up to their spot and stood exactly as I've captured them. Priceless! I knew at that second I would be sharing them with you on my blog. It was nice meeting all of you. Thanks for having me.

BLING IT

I love contrast; the state of being STRIKINGLY different. As I begin typing this blog featuring an image from a recent photo shoot, I automatically giggle as I gaze down at the oversized t-shirt, jeans and Danskos I gladly put on this morning. These days bling is quickly being replaced by sensibly chic, or possibly just plain sensibility. I suggest and prefer bubbles!

Early in the year I had the fine opportunity to meet and photograph Kaleigh for a feature article in Super Models Unlimited. As we wrapped up a day of shooting Kaleigh mentioned a shot of her dripping in "Bling"! I looked over at a tub that has been renting space in our studio for months and we agreed to schedule another day to bring on the bling. With the combined talents of Heather Hawkin's ( Hair &Makeup), Jason Dulin ( Retoucher), and Liz Compton ( Photo Assist) I'm happy to share our results. The pink background was too much "bling" for the magazine's taste and they opted for the wood floor we originally photographed for their cover. ( featured in "The After Party" section of my website).

One of the most beautiful things about my job is being exposed to and exposing an incredibly wide variety of PEOPLE . No matter the similarities or differences to myself, they undeniably bring color into my life.

DANIEL SEDDIQUI: LIVING THE MAP

Daniel Seddiqui attained an economics degree at the University of Southern California only to find no jobs waiting for him after graduation. Did I mention he's been looking for three years? Sign of the economic times? Daniel turned his vision to traveling 50 states, in 50 weeks, working 50 different jobs along the way. His mission: to explore the diverse careers, environments and cultures offered in America. Week 35 brought Daniel to North Carolina working job number 35 at Directions USA Talent/Modeling Agency as a talent agent, booking agent, and yes...a model. Although I didn't make him wear stilettos I did drag him out in the country and garbed him up in a seersucker suit. What can I say, you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl.

Pat's Coffee Shop.

I recently had the opportunity to shoot an assignment for Our Sate Magazine in Historic Downtown Mooresville NC . First of all, what a charming area! Many of the buildings date from the 1850's and are not only still standing but occupied by businesses. Within one of these buildings you will find the focus of our assignment: Pat's Coffee Shop, a most unique establishment run by Richard Warren. Pat's Coffee Shop is dedicated to honoring America's Veterans and Active Duty Military personnel and their enthusiasm is felt the moment you walk in the door. The first time you walk into the shop, you will probably be greeted with a welcoming hug from Cheryl, a firm handshake from Richard, and a tutoring of the vast history within Pat's Coffee Shop; both living and inanimate. I suggest going on a Saturday morning for coffee and Old Time music. The morning I visited there were approximately 13 people of all ages and gender playing banjos, stand up bass, fiddle, mandolin and a variety of guitars. If you like this music genre at all, you won't be disappointed, I personally had goose bumps the entire time I was there. So next Saturday morning, when you are trying to figure out where to go grab coffee, skip the usual and head down to Pat's Coffee Shop for an unforgettable experience.
